St Michael’s Lodge

Convalescence and rehabilitation breaks at multi-million pound treatment centre

As a member of West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund you can apply for a convalescence or rehabilitation break at the state-of-the-art holistic treatment centre, St Michael’s Lodge.

Set in the picturesque Ribble Valley, Lancashire it’s the perfect place for our members to visit if they need time away to recover from injury or illness.

The centre offers a diverse programme, completely tailored to meet the individual needs of each guest.

A wide range of treatments are on offer including; physiotherapy, holistic therapy and hydrotherapy.

The Lodge has 30 bedrooms, with two of the rooms adapted for wheelchair users. All the rooms have TV, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, hairdryer and en-suite shower rooms.

There is a fully equipped gym for guests to improve their cardiovascular fitness and physical strength.

Relaxation is promoted with the beautiful orangery room overlooking open countryside, as well as, a comfortable TV lounge where internet access is available.

Outside guests can enjoy the landscaped garden, complete with patio area, water feature and hot tub.

 Arranging your stay

As long as you have been a Benevolent Fund member for at least 6 months you can apply to stay for a short break. Your stay will include your physiotherapy/treatment sessions, meals and accommodation.

We ask that your stay be arranged within three months of booking to ensure the maximum benefit of your convalescence.

The rooms provided are double or twin and you can take another adult. Your mid-week stay can be taken Monday-Thursday, returning on Friday. Serving officers and police staff can apply to the Force for special leave to attend St Michael’s. Please speak to your supervisor about how to claim.

As the Fund is paying for your convalescence break we do not pay towards your travel costs.

To apply simply download and complete the St Michael’s Lodge convalescence application form or contact us and we’ll send one to you.

The application form needs to be signed by Force Medical Officer, Occupational health nurse, Physiotherapist or your G.P and sent to the Benevolent Fund office. A referral will then be made to the North West Benevolent Fund and they will contact you directly to arrange your visit.

UPDATE: St Michael’s Lodge – Impact of Covid 19

Convalescence and rehabilitation breaks now resuming.

We’re pleased to announce that St Michael’s Lodge will be operating a phased re-opening from 28 July.

St Michael’s closed its doors back in April in response to the Covid-19 outbreak but will now be offering physiotherapy to our members.

Anyone who had appointments cancelled will be notified by the Lodge staff to discuss options for re-booking. You will not need to submit a new application to stay.

We would like to reassure visitors that the treatment facility will be operating under strict Covid rules and these will be communicated to members at the time of booking.

From 3 August all Benevolent Fund members can apply in the usual way to stay at the convalescence and rehabilitation centre, however appointments will be for physiotherapy only.

Please note: Wellbeing/Mindfullness treatments are not currently available so please do NOT apply or obtain a GP/Health Professional signature as they will be rejected.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Updated 27th July 2020, We will share details of when the Well-being visits will resume as soon as we receive further details.
