Dear Member, I want to begin by saying a massive thank you for your continued support during these financially challenging times. Thanks to members’ subscriptions, we’ve handed out over £70,000 in the form of grants and benefits this year, including £13,521 to widows and orphans of deceased officers, over £5,000 to support members off sick through injury or ill health and over £10,000 in convalescence and rehabilitation breaks at the treatment centre St Michael’s Lodge. As well as providing direct financial support, our charity has also hosted two fantastic family events. We also launched our new donation boxes that offer a cashless alternative to donating to the Fund. One sits near the Roll of Honour in the reception area of Police HQ, Birmingham and the other is situated in the Bravery Cell at the police museum, Steelhouse Lane. Thanks to the generosity of visitors to the museum we have so far received over £300 in donations. A special thank you to everyone who has donated to our police charity over the past year. Donating to our police charity is easy. Simply visit https://wmpben.co.uk/donate/ Against the backdrop of these financially challenging times, I hope the Benevolent Fund will give you peace of mind that someone else is looking out for you. I’m always touched by the messages of thanks we receive frommembers who we have helped throughout the year and incredibly proud of the hard-working team who work tirelessly behind the scenes to enable our charity to offer so much. Office open Monday and Wednesday 8.30am to 4.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 3.00pm Family time is priceless Your health and wellbeingmatters Special memories were created last May when police families joined us at Blackwell Court Adventure, near Bromsgrove for a fun filled day of activities, including; crate stacking, archery, zip wire and tree climbing. At the end of August more members and their children enjoyed a summer’s evening at Aztec Water Park Adventure, to take on the challenge of the giant floating assault course as well as a tranquil hour on the lake kayaking and paddle boarding. “ We had such a fun time at Aztec Adventure. Thank you for organising this. We sacrifice so much family time by working unsociable hours so it was nice for the children to be involved and feel included. This is the first Benevolent Fund family event I have attended and I really hope they continue.” Lynne, Serving officer The Family events return next year! Supporting our members back to health is something we take very seriously. Our partnership with the North West Benevolent Fund enables us to send people for much needed convalescence, rehabilitation and wellbeing breaks to the state-of-the-art holistic treatment centre, St Michael’s Lodge. Set in the picturesque Ribble Valley, Lancashire, the facility offers stress management, relaxation techniques, Pilates, yoga, swimming, complimentary therapies, physiotherapy, and full use of the extensive wellbeing facilities. “ I injured my shoulder and ended up needing a surgical repair. I visited St Michael’s Lodge for treatment and rehab. I was assigned a shoulder specialist for my physio and the gains I made over the week were incredible. I also did Pilates, tai chi, ai chi, and massage. Each day finished with a meditation/relaxation session. In between treatments you could use the swimming pool and sauna, the hot tub and the gym. The facilities were brilliant and applying for my stay was so easy.” Tim Mason, Serving officer To apply for convalescence and wellbeing breaks at St Michaels visit https://wmpben. co.uk/our-benefits/stmichaels-lodge/ or email us at info@wmpben.co.uk Member Benefits: Grants and loans, sickness vouchers, convalescence breaks, death grants, discounted holidays, freeWills Service, family events & rewards.
