Grants exceeding £5500 given this month to help members
At Friday’s Trustees and Operations Committee meeting, we supported four grant applications for assistance.
The Trustees were unanimous in their decision to help a retired member whose deteriorating health meant navigating the stairs at home on their hands and knees. A grant of £3490 was given to the member to purchase a stair-lift.
A grant of £1600 was agreed to support a serving member to purchase specialist equipment for their child urgently needed for their safety and wellbeing.
Two further grants were given to a retired member towards the cost of adaptations to the family home and a serving officer who required emergency assistance.
The grants will make a huge difference to their lives as well as the family members who are also greatly impacted.
We award charitable grants to members who find themselves with sudden illness, unforeseen expenditure, or financial hardship.
There are no set criteria for grant approval because every case is considered on its own merit.
