Police ties and scarves go on sale in aid of our charity

A selection of Birmingham City Police and West Midlands Police ties and scarves are going on sale next month. The idea for the items came from a police reunion last year.

Back in 2024 retired officer Dennis Dixon assembled a team of fellow retired Birmingham City Police and West Midlands Police officers to organise a reunion for past and present colleagues of the old C-Division at Harborne Golf Club.

Those attending were asked to make a small donation towards the cost of the room hire and from these takings a surplus of £350 was kindly donated to our police charity.

Last May Dennis got in touch again to inform us of a Force wide reunion at Aston Villa Football Ground. The event was well attended and Dennis and his small group of organisers donated a further £1,136 to the Benevolent Fund. The money this time was generated from the sale of Birmingham City Police (BCP) ties.

“The BCP ties are proving very popular and where desired, are now being donated free of charge to families of recently deceased former Birmingham City Police officers,” explained Dennis.

Recognising that there was not a tie for West Midlands personnel, Dennis has had three tie designs made as well as a scarf. West Midlands Police have consented to the use of the force crest to feature on all the designs.

“We are extremely grateful to Dennis and his fellow police colleagues for their donations to our police charity,” thanked John Williams, Ben Fund Charity Chairman.

He added, “The ties look great and they are a very thoughtful gift to give to bereaved families who have a deep-rooted connection to the police service.”

The ties and scarves will be available from February and are priced at £16 inclusive of postage costs. They are available in either a traditional knotted or clip-on version. The scarves are £20 inclusive of postage and packaging.
