Remembering our fallen heroes
On today’s National Day of Memorial, our Chairman, John Williams and General Manager, Steve Newbury, joined Assistant Chief Constable for West Midlands Police, Matt Welsted, officers from the West Midlands Police Honour Guard and representatives from West Midlands Police Staff Associations and Police Federation, to lay a memorial wreath at the foot of the Force’s Roll of Honour.
To mark the two-minute silence, police colleagues gathered in the reception area of Police HQ, Birmingham, to pause and remember those who lost their lives in conflict and to pay tribute to the special contribution of our fallen officers.
“Today’s acts of remembrance, not only pays tribute to the many brave service men and
women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, but it also reminds us of the special connection the Benevolent Fund has to the fallen officers and staff featured on the West Midlands Police Roll of Honour.
“It is always an honour to be a part of the Armistice Day tributes,” explained John.
“Each year on this very important and poignant occasion I always feel incredibly proud of our charity’s ongoing commitment to supporting the wider police family,” he added.
