A sandwich, a coffee and a show of support to your police charity
We have received £130 from the generosity of visitors to the West Midlands Police HQ cafe at Lloyd House. Colleagues visiting the first floor for either refreshments or a pre-loved book have been donating their loose change in the collection tins to support their valued police charity.
The Benevolent Fund has been helping serving and retired officers; police staff and their immediate family for over 50 years.
So far this year we have given out a combined total of over £100,000 in the form of grants and total membership
benefits, including over £15,000 to widows and orphans.
“This is another boost to our charity,” said Steve Newbury, the charity’s manager. “It’s very touching that even during these financially challenging times, colleagues are still thinking of us and giving what they can to support our vital work.
“This money will go straight into our funds to help more serving and retired officers; police staff and their families in times of crisis.”
The Ben Fund receives money in several ways. The bulk of it is raised from monthly member subscriptions but other money comes from grateful members of the public who have been connected in some way to the Fund.
The Fund also benefits from legacies that are left following the death of someone who wants to leave money to help police officers. Anyone can also donate securely online here https://wmpben.co.uk/donate/
