£500 donation given in appreciation of Police Fund
We are very grateful for the recent donation of £500 from the Freemason’s, Francis Burgess Lodge to our police charity.
The kind donation was made in recognition of the continued work the Benevolent Fund carries out to support its police family.
On Friday 25 October 2024, charity Chairman John Williams welcomed Stephen Wyer, the senior Freemason in Worcestershire to Ben Fund HQ, Guardians House in Sheldon. He was joined by Joe Tildesley a long-standing member of our charity’s Management Committee.
Stephen presented a cheque for £500 to the Benevolent Fund. The donation had come about as Joe, also a member of the masonic province of Worcestershire, had applied on behalf of the Fund, to receive a grant from the Provincial Grand Chapter Charity Fund.
Joe is a member of Francis Burgess Lodge, which was established back in 1989, and also Francis Burgess Chapter which followed some two years later. Initially both Lodge and Chapter membership was restricted to serving and retired Police officers, but that rule was changed over twenty years ago. Both Lodge and Chapter try to donate at least once a year to the Benevolent fund in recognition of the fund’s continuing Police history and its work supporting retired and servicing officers and staff in times of need.
Stephen expressed how delighted Worcestershire Freemasons were in making this charitable contribution to the work of the Benevolent Fund and went out of his way to thank all officers for their inspirational work.
Chairman, John Williams thanked both Steven and Joe for their kind donation and for recognising the work of our police charity.
“Any donation to the fund is always gratefully received, however this £500 sum brings even greater appreciation during our charity’s 50th anniversary year”, expressed John.
