Police reunion generates funds for charity
On behalf of the Benevolent Fund team, board of Trustees and Operations Committee we would like to express our sincere thanks to retired officer, Dennis Dixon and fellow officers and staff for the kind donation of £350 to our police charity.
On Monday 21 October a police reunion for the old ‘C’ Division, was held at Harborne Golf Club for former police officers and staff. Those attending were asked to contribute £5 towards the cost of the room hire.
“Such was the response from former colleagues that a surplus of over £350 was accumulated”, explained Dennis.
“Everyone who attended was in agreement that we should donate the extra money to the West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund Charity.”
Benevolent Fund Chairman, John Williams, added, “We are extremely grateful to be chosen to receive this kind donation.
“It was lovely to attend the event, speak to old colleagues and take a stroll down memory lane and reflect on how policing has changed over the years.
“The Benevolent Fund has been helping serving and retired officers, police staff and their families through difficult times for over 50 years and it was really touching to be remembered by colleagues and supported in this way.”
Chairman, John Williams was presented with a cheque for £350 by reunion organiser Denis Dixon.
A force wide reunion is now being planned for next year. This is open to all serving and retired officers and staff and will be held at Aston Villa FC from 1pm on Wednesday 28 May.
