Taking the plunge!
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”
Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows.
And that view was shared by our police families last Wednesday 30 August, when they joined us on a balmy summer’s evening at Aztec Adventure Aqua Park, for our second family event of the year.
Following our ever-popular ‘A Day to Remember’ event at Blackwell Court Adventure, earlier this year, we were keen to offer members and their families another memorable event.
A total of 70 places were given to families to test their agility on the giant inflatable assault course, followed by an hour kayaking and paddle boarding on the lake.
“The evening began with a quick change into wetsuits and then down to the lake side for the safety briefing,” explained Chairman, John Williams.
“Judging by the faces of all those taking part, Aztec proved another big hit with our members. It was great to see everyone getting stuck into the activities and on occasion doing the odd comedy flip into the water.
“We received some lovely feedback following the event and I’d like to thank all the families for making it such a success,” added John.
Here are just a few of the lovely messages we received:
“A huge thank you to you and the team for the Aztec Adventure family event. We had such a lovely evening and it was great to spend time together as a family supported by the Benevolent fund. My 10-year-old daughter said it was lovely to be together as a family having fun through a work organisation when we often aren’t able to be together as my husband or I are at work or on call. A really great event and great team. Thank you.“
“Mark and I wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the team at the Benevolent Fund for a fantastic event on Wednesday. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, taking part in some fantastic activities. Thank you for taking the time to provide this opportunity, we are very grateful.”
“Please can you pass on our thanks to everyone involved, we really enjoyed ourselves, my wife and I can’t move this morning through aching, but it was great fun and we had a wonderful evening.”
Next year our police charity will be commemorating 50 years of dedicated service. As part of our anniversary plans, we will be hosting a special family event for members to join us in celebrating this wonderful milestone.
Save the date!
