Discounted tickets to opening of Police Museum

The new West Midlands Police Museum based at the Steelhouse Lane Lock-up in Birmingham is opening its doors to the public in April.

Special discounted tickets are available for blue light family and friends before the museum opens to the general public.

West Midlands Police museum is almost ready to open its doors and members of West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund can visit before anyone else during an exclusive ‘Friends and Family weekend’.

Come along and review the West Midlands Police Museum and find out about the history of the force and the work of colleagues past and present.

Lots of planning has gone into transforming the former custody block into a state-of-the-art visitor attraction and we need our police family to help to make it the best that it can be.

The museum will be opening its doors on Saturday 2 April, Sunday 3 April and Monday 4 April and West Midlands Police colleagues past and present and their families can see exactly what’s being going on there before anyone else.

The museum opens to everyone else the following week, from Saturday 9 April.

Housed at the former custody block at Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham you and your family and friends are invited to share their 200 years of policing history.

It’s taken two-years to transform the Victorian Lock-up into a museum thanks in part to the National Lottery Heritage fund.

The museum is spread across three floors with many of the original Victorian features preserved including the old cells, metal walkways and the central metal spiral staircase.

The Benevolent Fund has it’s own display with reference to our special heritage offering support to those in need. We hope you will take a moment to read our display and show your support.

There’s lots for you to see and do and if you’ve got children or grandchildren there’s an interactive forensics lab, a Lock-up mouse trail and much more.

Tickets for the ‘friends and family’ weekend are heavily discounted at £6 for adults and £3 for children, and they need to pre-booked. There are several time slots available, with 35 tickets on sale for each session.
