Modelling event brings cash boost to Ben Fund

West Midlands Police Force Model Club welcomed modelling enthusiasts from all over the country yesterday, (Sunday 10 October) for its first ever ‘Blue Lamp Model Expo’.

Tally Ho! the Police Conference Centre was transformed into a haven for model lovers, with row upon row of impressive displays, including military vehicles, aeroplanes and intricate historic figures.

All monies raised during the event are being donated to three charities, including West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund.

We joined the event with our display stand and met with event organiser and West Midlands Police Force Model Club Chairman, Paul Brant.

“The model club is made up of serving and retired officers as well as police staff who share a keen interest in the hobby of scale modelling”, explained Paul.

“Model meetings and events obviously stopped as a result of Covid-19 last year and so it was really great to welcome enthusiasts and the general public to our first ever scale model expo today.

“We were keen to show our appreciation and support to the Benevolent Fund and therefore wanted to donate part of the proceeds of today’s entry admissions and fundraising to our police charity.”

Fund Chairman, John Williams and General Manager, Steve Newbury have been invited to the model clubs next meeting in November to receive a donation from the recent event.

John expressed his thanks by adding, “We are delighted Paul, Rob and the West Midlands Police Force Model Club decided to support our police charity in this way. We are very grateful for the kind donation. Every penny the fund receives goes towards assisting members who need our help.”
