The permanent 12-metre-tall brass tribute, situated at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, honours the courage and sacrifice of those who have dedicated their lives to protecting the public.

Trustees of West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund were unanimous in donating £6,950 to the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust earlier this year to contribute towards the cost of constructing the special tribute. At the time, this amount represented a £1 donation for every member of our police charity.

After seven years of fundraising and 12 months of construction, the memorial was finally unveiled last Wednesday 28 July, in the presence of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales along with representatives from all police forces across the UK, police charities and the friends and families of all those who dedicated their lives to protecting the public.

HRH Prince Charles stopped to speak to John Williams at the Dedication Ceremony. John explained the Benevolent Fund’s involvement and contribution to the tribute’s build cost.

The Dedication ceremony can be viewed through the memorial website
