A pound for every member donated to the UK Police Memorial.
Chairman John Williams was among 400 guests from the policing family who attended the recent unveiling of the new UK Police Memorial.
The permanent 12-metre-tall brass tribute, situated at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, honours the courage and sacrifice of those who have dedicated their lives to protecting the public.
Trustees of West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund were unanimous in donating £6,950 to the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust earlier this year to contribute towards the cost of constructing the special tribute. At the time, this amount represented a £1 donation for every member of our police charity.
After seven years of fundraising and 12 months of construction, the memorial was finally unveiled last Wednesday 28 July, in the presence of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales along with representatives from all police forces across the UK, police charities and the friends and families of all those who dedicated their lives to protecting the public.
