Injured officer enjoys Ben Fund break
Thanks to WMP Benevolent Fund, PC Dan Thomas took time away from his busy day job, catching criminals, to enjoy a spot of crabbing by the sea instead.
Ben Fund member and dog handler Dan was impaled on a metal fence while pursuing a thief earlier this year. He was overjoyed with our offer to stay at our members’ holiday home in Weymouth.
“It was a brilliant week thank you”, says Dan. “I went crabbing with my children every day!”
We contacted Dan last month to offer him and his wife, serving officer Jenna and their two children Oliver (5)and Alice (3) a family holiday at Peel’s Retreat on the Dorset coast.
“It came as a total surprise and was just what my family and I needed.
“I’d like to express a most sincere and heartfelt thank you to the WMP Benevolent Fund for such a kind gesture, the holiday was perfect in every way. The house is amazing and was really like a home from home, we really couldn’t fault it, it is so well kitted out, we were amazed, it’s also superbly located.
From all of the family a huge thank you!”
Serving officers, police staff and retired officers, who pay a small monthly contribution to WMP Benevolent Fund, can apply to stay at Peel’s Retreat at a discounted rate. It’s proving so popular that the Fund has decided to buy a second property for members to rent as part of their many membership benefits.
Limited weeks are still available for this year and can be booked via our Weymouth page on this website.
