‘IM Hero!’ Awards

Staff from the Information Management Department (IM), based at Lloyd House, were busy nominating colleagues last month as part of their ‘IM hero awards’.

WMP Benevolent Fund offered to support the event by paying for a lunch buffet for the 150 staff.

The awards event was the brainchild of Information Management, Assistant Director, Kate Jeffries. Six award categories were created, including a special WMP Benevolent Fund Award for Friendship and Service. This category recognised someone who cares about the people they serve, is honest and earns people’s trust. Someone who shows friendship by helping the public, partners and colleagues – particularly those who may not realise they need help.

Benevolent Fund chairman, John Williams was invited to present this award to Christopher Griffiths and a runner up certificate to colleague, Jayne Patterson.

Kate Jeffries commended her whole team, by adding; “You all do critical work – really essential to policing and protecting the public – you should be proud of the part you and your colleagues play in that.”

Kate went on to thank the Benevolent Fund for the generous sponsorship of the IM Hero Awards.

“The event went really well”, explained Kate. “So many people appreciated the value added by the Benevolent Fund. It was the initial contact and offer from the Fund that led to the department setting up this lunchtime awards buffet and I’m so glad we did.

“It was a fun and meaningful event for everyone involved as I’m sure you could see by the reactions of the teams.”

WMP Benevolent Fund has written to 26 departments across the Force offering funding to support similar Reward and Recognition Events.

John Williams, added; “The IM Hero Awards was a fun and yet very meaningful event that we were more than happy to support. I look forward to attending similar celebrations across the Force acknowledging the fantastic work that is being carried out daily by our West Midlands Police colleagues.”
