Christmas wishes from WMP Benevolent Fund
“As we approach another Christmas season I would like to share with you some of the highlights of the past 12 months. Christmas, as we all know, is a time of giving but thanks to the loyalty and support of our members we are able to give help to fellow police colleagues and their families throughout the year.
This is my fifth year as Benevolent Fund Chairman and 2015 has been another busy year. Over the past 12 months we have given:
£34,000 in gifts and grants
£25,000 to widows and orphans
Over £4,000 to support members with convalescence
Over £6,000 in shopping vouchers to members off sick through injury or ill health.
We launched a new easy access website this year so members can view services and benefits online. We’re now on social media too, providing regular updates on Facebook and Twitter.
In December we ran our first Christmas competition to win a luxury Selfridges hamper. Over 900 staff entered. I hope those who entered the competition, that aren’t currently members, got a chance to look at our website to see what we do and will consider joining in the New Year.
This year we also introduced our ‘Join a Friend’ campaign. We rewarded members who recommended the Benevolent Fund to work colleagues and encouraged them to sign up.
Our sincere thanks for your loyalty throughout the past year. We look forward to increasing membership of the Fund and continuing to offer help and support to our police family in 2016.
On behalf of everyone here at WMP Benevolent Fund I would like to wish you a very happy holiday season.”
John Williams, WMP Benevolent Fund Chairman.
